Dear WALS PhD and ECR members,
The WALS PhD/ECR Day is a dedicated event for PhD students and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) interested in lesson study and related fields of educational research. It offers a welcoming international forum for sharing ideas, receiving constructive feedback, learning from experienced researchers, and building meaningful connections with colleagues from around the world.
The event consists of three parts:
1. Webinar: Writing and Publishing Lesson Study Research
Experienced researchers and journal editors will share their experiences of developing lesson study manuscripts, navigating the publication process, and responding to reviewers’ comments. The webinar is designed to provide practical advice for publishing lesson study research in international journals.
2. Five-Minute Research Presentations
Participants are invited to give a five-minute presentation on their work. Presentations may focus on ongoing research, research plans, dissertation projects, or early-stage ideas. The aim is to create a supportive environment where participants can receive constructive feedback and exchange ideas with fellow PhD students, ECRs, and senior scholars. Presentation proposals will be submitted through a Google Form.
3. Meet and Mingle with WALS Council Members
The event concludes with an informal networking session where participants can meet WALS Council members, ask questions about research and academic careers, discuss potential collaborations, and expand their international professional network.
To accommodate participants from around the world, this year’s PhD/ECR Day will be held online in two identical sessions. Participants may attend the session that best suits their time zone.
Whether you are beginning your doctoral journey, preparing your first publication, or exploring future research collaborations, the WALS PhD/ECR Day offers an excellent opportunity to engage with the international lesson study community and expand your professional network.
