INTERNATIONAL DISSEMINATION – WALS

The International Lesson Study Conference Series aims to foster international dialogue on teacher education and professional development in response to the challenges of contemporary education. The event seeks to disseminate experiences and research results on lesson study and to bring together initiatives with the potential to stimulate reflection and further research on this professional development process.
The first edition of the conference series was held from December 2022 to July 2023 and consisted of 11 conferences, involving researchers from South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador), Europe (Portugal, Spain, and England), and New Zealand. Recordings are available alongside the description of each conference by clicking on “here”, according to the programme available at:

The 2nd International Lesson Study Conference Series is organised by the Research and Study Group in Mathematics Education and Technologies – GEPEM@T, under the coordination of Adriana Richit from the Federal University of the Southern Frontier (Brazil), in partnership with researchers from the University of Turin (Italy) – Carola Manolino, the University of Barcelona (Spain) – Adriana Breda, the University of Lisbon (Portugal) – João Pedro da Ponte, and the University of Brasília (Brazil) – Regina Pina.
The conference series is addressed to school and university teachers, undergraduate and graduate students, researchers from different fields, and education specialists. It aims to present multiple lesson study experiences in mathematics education and teacher professional development, as well as to discuss theoretical, political, and cultural aspects shaping this process.
The conferences will take place fortnightly over a six-month period, from February to August 2026. All sessions will be held online via the StreamYard platform and broadcast on YouTube. Each conference will last up to 120 minutes. The access link for each conference will be published on the GEPEM@T website.
The conference series also provides a space to acknowledge the contribution of national and international researchers to the dissemination and consolidation of lesson study in Brazil. Conferences will be conducted in the language indicated by the invited speakers. The event will be held virtually and registration is free for all participants, with certification for registered participants at the end: https://forms.gle/G4yWNQChMp1qgv1E9
